Harmonia was founded in 2008 by Alison Davis. Currently the choir has 55 members and meets on Thursday evenings in Malton.

The choir has gone from strength to strength since its formation and enjoys performing throughout North Yorkshire, usually raising money for local charities and organisations. Audiences are treated to a programme of contemporary choral music, all performed from memory.

Harmonia have been fortunate enough to collaborate with many other groups including York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir, Kirkbymoorside Town Brass Band, Swinton and District Excelsior Band and York Light Orchestra. The choir has also taken part in a series of workshops delivered by Manasamitra, a cross-cultural arts organisation based in Dewsbury.

See our events page for forthcoming concerts and performances.

Eskdale Festival has been a highlight of the choir's calendar for several years and we are proud of our successes. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 Harmonia won the evening Recital Class and were successful in winning the 'Song from the Shows' class in 2023.

In February 2024, Harmonia made their debut at York Community Choir Festival. The event was held at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, and the choir is looking forward to performing again in 2025.

The choir's repertoire is varied and concerts are tailored to suit the audience and style of the event. Please see our repertoire page for a list of our songs.
