Just Sing photo_edited.jpg

The aim of the 'Just Sing' sessions is to create a fun, relaxed environment where the focus is on enjoying singing together. We will sing a variety of songs from pop to folk, musical theatre to world music.

The benefits of singing have long been documented and research shows that singing alters the hormones that boost mood-state and the immune system. Singing also reduces stress, which is linked to so many health conditions. Listening to positive music for more than 5 minutes a day can improve mood state and engaging in music by singing or playing instruments is more effective than listening alone. Singing can be good for mental wellbeing and through group singing we can nurture our spiritual health and sense of belonging. Singing also boosts the immune system which may help reduce frequency of illness.

My hope with ‘Just Sing’ is that it offers a relaxed environment where people can drop in and out of the sessions to suit their circumstances. Singers will either learn from lyrics or by ear so there’s no requirement to read music and no pressure to prepare for performances. The aim is that attendees will leave the sessions feeling uplifted and energised.

There is no termly financial commitment, although a weekly fee of £7.50 is payable on a pay as you go basis. Payment can be cash on the night, or preferably by bank transfer.
